Remember to label and don't forget to label. Yes it's worth repeating, but you will help the movers and yourself by labeling your stuff. It will allow for better organization, sorting and handling fragile items with extra care. Put some comments on the package if you think it helps.
Don't dump your stuff-not all of it of couse, but do throw away/give away anything that you have not used , or will never use again. Let this be a great time to purge you soul of all this unnecessary weight. Old books, clothing, cassette music collection, etc get rid of it.
The Perfect Moving Day
Hire your movers at least a 3-4 weeks ahead , allowing you some planning time. If you have a flexible schedule, play around with potential moving dates and try to find the cheapest time of month to make an appointment. Moving companies are busies on weekends , you may be able to get a discount for weekdays

Boxes from your neighborhood store..
The market , or grocery store , liquor store are great places to get large boxes. Go ahead and ask.
Create a planning list / to-do list.
When you move homes, you inevitably end up having 600 different things to do and remember. Dont let all these tasks and important reminders, no matter how seemingly obvious, slip your mind.
Consider using small boxes for some of your heavier items
Fill your small boxes with heavier items and use large boxes for light things like decorative pillows, towels, etc.
Fragile items need special care..
Bubble wrap, packing paper or blankets will be needed to protect your delicate stuff.
